Export Packaging and KD vs Assembled: How Custom Furniture Ships Safely
Category: Capability / Logistics · By Vashone Technology Co., Ltd.
The safest, cheapest furniture to import is the one that arrives undamaged and uses the container wisely. That starts long before the truck — with how the piece is engineered to pack. Here is how Vashone Technology Co., Ltd. handles knock-down, assembly, and export packaging.
KD (knock-down) vs fully assembled
Knock-down (flat-pack): the piece ships in parts with hardware and instructions. It saves cube, lowers freight per unit, and reduces damage to large surfaces — ideal for voluminous items like beds, tables, and large casegoods.
Fully assembled: ships ready to use. Higher freight and handling risk, but right for fragile, pre-upholstered, or high-end pieces where assembly by the end user is unwanted.
Partially assembled: a common middle ground — sub-assembled modules that cut cube while limiting on-site work.
Export packaging that survives transit
We size double-wall cartons to the piece, add corner guards, foam, and edge protection, and use desiccant for long ocean legs. For fragile or high-value runs we can build wooden crates or A-frame racks and follow ISTA-style drop and vibration test thinking so the pack is proven, not guessed.
Optimising the cube
Because we are inside the Houjie "Furniture Avenue" cluster, we can coordinate component sizes to nest and stack efficiently, and we provide a carton list and loading plan so you can verify cube and weight before booking — no surprises at the port.
Documents and marks
Each carton is marked with the shipping mark, piece count, and handling icons you specify. We align packaging with your destination requirements (labelling, palletising) so the goods clear and arrive presentation-ready.
Why it matters
Damage and empty cube are the two silent killers of furniture margins. Right-packaged and right-configured, a container earns more and a claim happens less. Vashone engineers packing into the product from the prototype, quoted FOB Shenzhen with a loading plan you can check.
